The older children look very smart in our new coloured jumpers which show that we are all responsible members of the ABA (Anti Bullying Agency) ensuring that we don’t have any friendship issues on the playground. We also carry out other school responsibilities such as: carrying out office duties at lunchtimes, setting up for school assembly and helping the younger children in the dinner hall at lunchtime.
We are lucky to have a set of netbooks, kindles and iPads, which we are able to use to support us in our lessons and reinforce learning through games and activities. We have a super selection of books in our class library including many from the list of recommended books to read before we leave school including Cogheart, Holes, The Hobbit, Coraline, Number of Stars and Jungle Book which children are encouraged to read and discuss. Each week we also discuss a moral question as our ‘Question of the week’ and we are currently doing a lot of work on the rights of a child.
We are currently involved in Numeracy Ninjas, a scheme which allows us to practice key maths skills, mental strategies and multiplication tables, during our Maths lessons. We love to work towards the next ‘belt’ and push ourselves to achieve this by the end of each week.
Another thing we love in Lion Class is our creative homework menu that is linked to our learning journey which allows us to choose a homework to complete that interests us such as art based activities or more scientific activities.
The year ends with Lion Class taking the lead roles in the school's Junior Production.
